18

months to translate full Bible

Every nation, tribe, people, language before the Lamb

Revelation 7:9 gives us a picture of God's grand plan—that every language would be represented around the throne of Jesus Christ. Yet, 98% of the world's languages do not have the full Word of God in their heart language.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God—and how can they hear unless they have the full Bible in their heart language?
"Let's lay a foundation for a great move of God in every language"
- Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth with a Mission
EVERY LANGUAGE as an initiative of the global OMT Movement, mobilizes mother tongue speakers
We translate the full Bible into every language and ignite discipleship movements through a method called "Oral Mother Tongue" translation (OMT).
OMT uses simple technology combined with the 738 trade language Bibles already translated to streamline the translation process without compromising the veracity of the Scriptures.
During the 18 months needed to translate the full Bible, translators are trained and equipped in dynamic Discipleship Movement methods to launch discipleship movements through Bible distribution. As sections of scripture are completed, they are community-checked, legitimized, and immediately used in distribution.

Full Bible in 18 months?

Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German in 11 weeks.
While Martin Luther was hiding at Wartburg Castle in 1521–1522, he translated the New Testament into German—the common language of the day.
"I ask you, what else is the word of God but all the contents of the Bible? And who gave you the right to forbid me to speak it in German, as well as in Latin or Greek? Should not I, as a German, speak in German if I understand it? Why should not I translate the Bible into German?"

- Martin Luther, Open Letter on Translating

Luther definitively declared that native speakers who understood both the source and the target languages were fully qualified to translate Scripture.

IS IT POSSIBLE?

In the past 2 years, we've seen:
NEPAL
10 projects launched in Nepal
NIGERIA
80 languages have started translations
ASIA
In Nepal and Myanmar, 55 languages are ready to start, all tied to church-planting movements still lacking the Bible.

THE GREAT COMMISION: A TASK TO BE COMPLETED

By 2033, we aim to complete translations for 12,000 languages in Africa & 30,000 in Asia by equipping YWAM's 2000+ global bases and hundreds of church planting movements as translation hubs.

Global Expansion:

To meet this great hunger for the Bible and the Gospel, EVERY LANGUAGE is activating 6 strategic hubs: Nepal, India, Nigeria, Myanmar (Burma), Singapore, and a closed nation in the Middle East.
These hubs will serve as multipliers for the movement. Hundreds of translations will be produced and thousands of new church plants will grow to maturity.
As these 6 hubs grow, we hope to multiply these in order to reach the 2033 vision.
